1961 Bombardier SW48 Snowcat/ sidewalk plow. This very efficient machine was originally designed as a cross country ski/snowmobile trail groomer then bombardier later adapted them for use as a high speed sidewalk plow. They originally came with a V plow. It is very versatile, can tow a sled trailer or a drag, heavy duty steel grousers allow it to operate in deep snow and on dirt and pavement. This machine has been meticulously maintained over the years. Looks and runs like new. Always stored inside. Recent valve job, tracks are in great shape, tires and tubes are 100%. Powered by a 251 Chrysler flat head industrial straight 6 cylinder gas engine. It is very powerful, top speed of about 27 mph. 3 forward gears, plus reverse. The machine has a great heater and defroster and windshield wiper, front and rear spot lights with fog lamps and safety strobe. Fuel tank has been polymer coated to eliminate rust risk during summer storage. The blade is controlled by a 4 way hydraulic system (up/down, left /right). The blade is a Meyers 7.5’ plow, many of these run a 4’ plow, but the plow can be easily cut down or, the plow narrows to be 5’ wide when it is fully tilted to the left or right. I have the original owner’s manual and literature for this machine. The machine is 48” wide, about 78” tall, and about 144” long with the blade. Weighs 4000lbs, can easily be moved on any small trailer with a small truck or SUV. This Bombardier snowcat is absolutely flawless…needs nothing, extremely reliable, requires little to no maintenance beyond the basic fluids etc..
